Information about Candid Cream

Description:

Candid belongs to a class of medicines called Antifungal. Antifungals are a group of drugs that treat fungal infections of the skin and body, including athlete's foot, fungal nail infections, ringworm, and vaginal candidiasis. These medicines limit the growth of a wide range of fungi by damaging the fungal cell membrane.

Uses / Indications:

Candid Cream is used to treat all fungal skin infections such as infection of the vulva and also used with other medicines to treat infection of the vagina. It is also used to prevent reinfection by applying on the penis of the sexual partner. Candid solution can also be used to treat fungal infections of the middle ear and outer ear. This medicine works by blocking the synthesis of a substance in the cell membranes of fungi. It may lead to functional and structural dysfunction of fungi.

Interactions / Warnings:

Avoid putting Candid Cream 50 gm near your mouth, lips and eyes. This product contains cetostearyl alcohol, which may cause local skin reactions (like contact dermatitis). Tell a doctor before using Candid Cream 50 gm if you are using Framycetin and Dexamethasone ear drops as it can interact and affect the working of Candid Cream 50 gm. If your baby is being treated for oral thrush you can continue breastfeeding. But in some cases, you might need to be treated at the same time. If you are applying Candid Cream 50 gm on your breast or nipple try to wash it before breastfeeding your baby.

Side Effects:

Rarely, the use of Candid Cream may cause the following side-effects: dizziness fainting feeling of discomfort hives irritation Nausea pain on the affected area removal of dead skin cells (exfoliation) skin blister skin itching skin redness swelling of the lips, throat, face, or tongue weakness The following severe side-effects may also occur when using Candid Cream: Skin tissue disorders Symptoms: swelling of the skin due to fluid accumulation, severe allergic reaction (erythema), skin rash skin burning If this happens, ask your doctor immediately. Immune system disorders Symptoms: high blood pressure shortness of breath (dyspnea) Severe allergic reactions Symptoms: swallowing problems breathing problems In this case, call your doctor right away. Your doctor has prescribed Candid Cream because they judge that the benefit is greater than the risk posed by side-effects. Many people using this medicine do not have serious side-effects. Medicine interaction:

Candid Cream 50 gm may cause damage to latex contraceptives. Consequently, the effectiveness of such contraceptives may be reduced. Patients should be advised to use alternative precautions for at least five days after using this product.
