Information about Methycobal Tablet

Description:

Methycobal is a form of vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 is important for the brain and nerves, and for the production of red blood cells. Methycobal is used to treat vitamin B12 deficiency. Methycobal is sometimes used in people with pernicious anemia, diabetes, and other conditions. Methycobal may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.

Uses / Indications:

Methycobal Tablet is used to treat nerve damage mainly in the hands and feet. This medicine works by binding to a specific cell site and plays an important role in the synthesis of nucleic acid and protein. Water-Soluble Vitamins Methycobal belongs to a class of medicines called Water-Soluble Vitamins. Water-soluble vitamins include vitamin C and all of the vitamin B complex that performs vital functions in a variety of body system and is crucial for maintaining optimal health.

Interactions / Warnings:

Do not take Methycobal Tablet 15's if you are allergic to vitamin B12 or cobalt. To treat your condition effectually, continue taking Methycobal Tablet 15's for as long as your doctor has prescribed. Please do not stop taking Methycobal Tablet 15's without consulting your doctor. Do not take Methycobal Tablet 15's if you are pregnant or breastfeeding unless prescribed by the doctor. Methycobal Tablet 15's should be given to children as advised by your doctor. Inform your doctor if you have low levels of potassium in the blood, and iron or folic acid deficiency, or if you have/had optic nerve damage.

Side Effects:

All drugs may cause side effects. However, many people have no side effects or only have minor side effects. Call your doctor or get medical help if any of these side effects or any other side effects bother you or do not go away: Tablet: Upset stomach. Diarrhea. Not hungry. Histamine H2-Antagonists Methycobal Tablet interacts with histamine H2-antagonists, which are used to treat and prevent stomach and duodenal ulcers. Absorption of Methycobal into the blood from the stomach and intestine may be decreased while taken with histamine H2-antagonists. This interaction should be taken into account while performing blood testing. Antituberculosis Drugs There may be an interaction of Methycobal with aminosalicylic acid, which is used to treat tuberculosis. The use of Methycobal with aminosalicylic acid may decrease the absorption of Methycobal into the blood from the stomach and intestine. Blood testing should be performed by considering this interaction.
